Salmon
Easy Salmon Seasoning
This salmon seasoning uses common herbs and spices you may already have hanging around in your pantry. The flavors of dried mustard and dill complement fatty fish like salmon but would also work well with cod or trout.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon celery seed
- 4 (5 ounce) skin-on salmon fillets
- 2 tablespoons neutral oil, such as canola or avocado
- fresh dill fronds for garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Combine 1 tablespoon dry mustard, 1 teaspoon dill, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon celery seed in a small bowl.
- Pat 4 (5 ounce) salmon fillets dry with paper towels; rub all over with the spice mixture (about 1 teaspoon per fillet). Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 1 minute. Add the salmon, skin-sides down; cook until the skin is crispy, 3 to 4 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown and cooked through, 4 to 6 minutes. Transfer to a serving plate; garnish with dill fronds, if desired.
